What is included in the CREB portfolio?

October 27, 2026

CREB invests mainly in short-term real estate loans, supported by more liquid holdings. Target allocations published on the Bond Overview (as of April 24, 2026):

  • Real estate bridge loans: 55%
  • Mortgage-backed securities: 15%
  • Institutional real estate funds: 10%
  • U.S. Treasury bills: 10%
  • Cash reserves: 10%

The loans

Loans are first-lien bridge loans, typically $500,000 to $5 million, on multifamily, commercial, industrial and mixed-use property, at fixed rates of 10% to 14%. Borrowers usually repay by refinancing or selling the property. [CONFIRM: typical loan term and maximum loan-to-value]

CREB bonds are investments, not bank deposits. They are not FDIC insured, and you could lose money, including principal.
